The high school principal's faith in «Result»
Our teaching team is confident that learning flourishes under four conditions:
- Creating a caring and safe learning environment.
- Children are involved in the active construction of knowledge. This is learning through questions and problem-solving, rather than accumulating knowledge for the sake of knowledge. And knowledge here is acquired in order to satisfy an intrinsic interest and need for problem-solving.
- Attention to the development of synthesis and analysis skills, and the ability to debate.
- Emphasis on assessment. It is needed to close certain gaps in children's learning, and above all, formative, rather than ordinary «rating» tests and exams.
The gymnasium adapts to the student, not the other way around.
The main goal is to make children happy and motivate them to learn independently. The teacher’s role in the gymnasium is minimal. Instead, children exchange knowledge with the teacher and choose what they would like to learn.
The teaching staff of the gymnasium believes that it was created to help children find their passion. Teachers here encourage children to find the inner strength to learn about the world and to motivate themselves.
This is the basic foundation for creativity. It can only grow in «fertile soil» when children study the areas they are most interested in and passionate about. It is when children feel successful that the space for creative thinking is formed. We do not look back at the Japanese model of education — one of the most depressing in the world, since it is focused on student achievement, not the students themselves, or at the Finnish system, which is known for its best educational resources in the world, but education there is still mostly very conservative, each state, each educational institution has its own view of education.
The «Result» Gymnasium is heading its own way into the future.
Once upon a time, the teacher’s power was that he had an advantage in knowledge. However, this does not work now, because today students have the Internet. And you don’t need to go to the library, it is always nearby. The teacher is no longer an authoritative source of knowledge. There are certainly still quite a few teachers who try to maintain authority, but they do not really succeed, because thanks to the latest information technologies, students can learn more than in primitive lessons.
The role of a teacher in a modern gymnasium is to be a facilitator, to help each student find their own knowledge. He must show children the way to engage in the network of knowledge through individual opportunities. The first thing a teacher needs to do is to identify the opportunities of each student, and not be an ordinary carrier of knowledge. The role of a teacher as a facilitator is the only thing that technology cannot replace.
The teacher’s mission is to help each student become self-determined.
This means that children don’t just discover certain talents, but learn everything about their potential. And at the same time, they learn to implement the skills they have acquired in high school.
And most importantly for “Resultat”. We must constantly try to do everything possible to make students smile with enthusiasm in their eyes. Happiness inspires children and generates creativity. The teaching staff of the gymnasium systematically measures the level of happiness of students and teachers, because this is one of the main criteria for the quality of education in the country.
